Our boucle fabric is made from 100% solution dyed acrylic fiberss. This means that it does not absorb liquids or spills in the same way that natural fibers do. While we always opt for natural materials for our furniture, we felt that this was the best decision for kitchen/dining chair upholstery.These features make our boucle fabric a great long term choice for upholstery that may be exposed to spills or other types of liquid. Spills will run off the fabric but those that seep into it can be blotted away with a towel and some water if needed.

Reupholstering the Charlie Dining Chair is definitely possible and many clients have successfully reupholstered their Charlie Chairs and have been pleased with the results.The seat cushion is very easy to reupholster, as it is secured with four simple screws.It’s important to note that the backrest of the chair has wood fillings hiding the screws. To reupholster the backrest, these fillings would need to be carefully drilled out and then filled again after reupholstery. It's a manageable task for those with some DIY experience or enlisting the help of a professional upholsterer. House of Leon will accept customized upholstery requests for 10 chairs or more. For orders that are 10 chairs or less, we recommend the seats be re-upholstered by your local upholstery team if desired.

We recommend avoiding direct exposure to sunlight. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause fading and discoloration. As most of our pieces use solid wood, prolonged exposure can cause the wood to dry out.

This wood is denser and more durable, making it better suited for seating. The natural oil finish used on the chairs may result in a slightly different appearance compared to the table, as it does not penetrate the denser wood as deeply.The dining tables receive an extra layer of protective coating to guard against food and liquid spills, which can contribute to variations in color and texture. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of the wood without adding gloss or shine through chemical treatments.
